... gaming simply because the word casino is included in the name (especially in France), and yet some of those same listings do not include those establishments that had gaming because of terms such as cercle, club, kursaal; spa, societé and plage in their name... Some of those listings get really messy, especially when there have been changes in operations (concessions) thru the years by villages, municipalities or families... I totally gave up.
One thing about postcards, for sure; they have helped greatly in the study of European casinos.
Right here in Palm Beach County; in Lake Worth, there's the Lake Worth Casino that many newspaper writers claim gambling existed in the past... yet there's nothing to back it up.
Italy is a country with very little published information regarding gambling establishments thru the years; especially those establishments that were set up just after WWII by local governments issuing all sorts of permits to operate in order to help boost the economy and help to compete with neighboring France, where things were starting to pick up, but most failed or were closed down by the central government in a matter of months. Poland is another area that has been overlooked... and of course, many of the private clubs throughout the region...
We have a very interesting hobby and have hardly tapped into it; Internationally.
