Granted the UAW has had some of the best stuff for their workers, way better than what we have. Probably, well, of course excessive, but nonetheless agreed to by the signatory parties.
Some blame has to be put on management for agreeing to those agreements and then sticking their heads in the sand when it came to paying attention to new product development.
It's not like this came suddenly. Far East junk hit our market 35 years ago and then it got better and better. To say these Detroit primadonnas didn't know which way the world was trending is preposterous.
I wish I had went on to get a MBA...I'd be sitting on a yacht with the money I got from my golden parachute after I did a p**s poor job for the company that believed in me.
Skip, don't blame it ALL on the help. (I still work and I make no apologies for what I get paid)
Several nights ago when it was 21 below zero and wind chill approaching 55 below I walked to the 123rd car (about 1 1/4 miles) in our train that got hit with a dragging equipment indication on a wayside detector. Found a chunk of sheet metal from the last OS that the train somehow sucked up under the car. Then, the same distance back to the front of the train. No apoligies for the $410.00 I made that day with a couple hours overtime.
Just my opinion.
