These stampings seem to have a common thread in...

some illegal operations. Perhaps the chips get stamped (sometimes called over-stamping) when a new owner wants to use the existing chips, but not honor any outstanding ones or any held by the prior owner.

As an example, several weeks ago, when I posted this chip, which might be an illegal, I found that one of a couple that I have, also exhibits the small over-stamping. In this instance the letters "E" and "V".

Here is a close-up:

While this "HAP" is listed as a UFC in TGT, I suspect that it is from an illegal operation because of the over-stampings; "1" on one side and "V" on the other.

I'd be interested to know if there are others out there.
