Funny you should mention AC as being installed in imports after they hit our shores as a way to reduce import tariffs. The Subaru Brat pickup truck was initially imported into the USA with a pair of seats bolted into the bed of the trucks. Those seats technically put the trucks into the passenger car category concerning tariffs. The tariff on imported cars at the time was 2.5% while the tariff on imported trucks was a whopping 25%!
