A whole generation if not two were lost when they came to the realization that the cars manufactured by the Japanese were of better quality.
It was only then that Detroit woke up and said..Hey, maybe instead of building vehicles with planned obsolesence in mind we should build cars that last, run well and are problem free.
Unfortunate as it it, it is the truth. Now though many American cars equal those of foreign makes in quality, you still constantly see Honda, Nissan, and Toyota heading the list of least complaints,

Where our government failed us was in not protecting the American worker by allowing an almost endless supply of imports into this country without posing a tarrif on them.

We have lost virtually the entire electronics industry. I don't think there is a single TV built in this country anymore. We are about to lose the auto industry also.
Did anyone read the statistics showing that $2000 of every vehicle built goes just to pay benefits a portion of which goes to pay for outlandish union negotiated deals which can not continue if this industry is to survive.

As I said in a previous post, soon we will be the country that makes those little umbrellas that you find in your cocktails the only difference will be is that they will cost $17.00 each
