the part I am a little hazy about is "we spoke and wrote english". Correct me if I am wrong, but I seem to recall from my history lessons that there were a few German, French, dutch, and other language speaking people in this country then that fought for our " more perfect union ". I agree with you about our official language and every one should learn it but, we don't even speak true english. Lets make American our official language.
