Lets say for a minute that you deserve the benefit of the doubt and you said these things by mistake. if that were the case shouldn’t you be the one man enough to admit your mistake and own up to the fact that it was your fault the chip was listed incorrectly?
Instead you come to this board taking absolutely no blame yourself and calling the buyer a liar and accusing her of wrongdoing.
If it was not a mistake, then the only other answer that it could be was that it was intentional misrepresentation.
Had you acted appropriately and offered a full refund immediately without having to go thru Ebay you probably would have never gotten the feedback you are so upset at now.
2) you state that the buyer is an experienced collector and knew exactly what she was doing.
How exactly was she supposed to know what you were going to send her if you falsely represented the item? the only thing she has to go by was your description and your word.
If you advertised a 5 carat diamond for sale and after the purchase you sent me a diamond that was only 1 carat in weight, would that be my fault?
3) You state that you have been in the auction business for 25+ years and have had perfect feedback, never encountered a problem and conduct yourself with the utmost dignity.
I have to ask again, do you plan on pulling your auction for the Silver Slipper? You have been told several times now by numerous knowledgeable collectors that this is in fact NOT a Vegas chip yet you refuse to accept that.
is that how you run your business over the years? If you were auctioning a piece of artwork and were told by numerous knowledgeable art dealers that this as a fake or reproduction would you still ignore that information and stick to a description in a guidebook that is several years old? Do you not have any of the ethics that you claim to have when you insist on listing
an item with at the very least a questionable history and ignore the information you have been given?
4) You may want to choose another hobby to run your scams on. The Chippers that visit this board and are members of the CC>CC are a pretty tightly knot group. When one of us is wronged the others come to the rescue and make sure that the same thing does not happen to others. In other words, we watch each others backs. You may find it easier to pull a fast one on doll collectors or collectors of spoons.
5) You will get no sympathy here on this board. I am glad that you have shown the rest of us how you really feel and we all know what to expect if someone were to bid on your auctions. And that lesson is BUYER BEWARE as no matter what you promise, something completely different may show up and then you will claim no fault of your own.
I personally find it hard to believe that you have run a business for any length of time with ethics and morals like you have shown.
The best thing that has come out of this situation is the appropriate feedback you received from Mrs. Meister. At least now other potential bidders can be aware of what may happen to them if they bid on another of your questionable listings.
I can guarantee you that the person who buys the Silver slipper chip will not be a happy camper when they find out that they too were misled and ripped off.
You have been given every opportunity to do the right thing, you the decision is yours to do nothing.
Best of luck with selling your chips to those that read this thread or see your feedback, as you are going to need it.
An in case you want to keep infering that you are bringing any of this to somones attention of a Legal standpoint, you may want to tell your lawyer that you came to Mrs Meisters place of business (This board) and stated quite blatently that she was a liar. It seems to me that she actually has a case against you..............
Have a great day and enjoy your feedback
Doug
