In the meantime, I believe that the chip in the auction is a clay composition chip, made in the early 1900's. Typically available in 3 colors (red, white and blue, white being the most common) it may also exist in yellow. Typically sold in boxes of 100 (50 white, 25 each in red and blue) and the yellows were by special order (costing more) and were therefore fewer in quantities.
Price quoted is the individual chip value. However, if found or made available in quantities of 50 or more (or as part of a complete set (100)), then the value is NOT that high and will drop to around $30 - $60 for a set.
