We are moving ahead at a rapid pace due to new software. We will have Al W. Moe soon but we will also have the last in depth effort by Gene and Peg Kaplan. The Kaplans were the ones that did a "History of Wells Gaming" and "The Story of Giovanna" in past issues of the club magazine.

Gene died recently. He was only in his 40's. He had been feeling poorly and Peg took him to a doctor in SLC and he died 4 days later of some bizarre form of fast spreading cancer. Then, the earthquake hit and devasted Wells. The Kaplans had renovated the El Rancho and were working on the Bullshead. Both places are tore up. I was told that some believed it was retribution for Gene's death but thats not something that made any sense as he loved Front Street. Gene told me that about everyone in Wells believes in something weird...be it Flying Saucers, Ghosts, The Worlds Largest Cow (Ask James Campiglia), and alot more.

In a short period of time Peg lost Gene and their buildings. She is devastated and with good reason.

Wells was one of the last vestiges of the old gaming places and were in the process of being restored.

In the near future I will be posting the Kaplans story of the Capitol Saloon (Bar). There was more to come but I think Gene's death ended anything else soon if ever for the rest of the places.

James picked Wells for the cover shot for the new book. He loves the place to.

It ain't all Las Vegas.
