The theme that kept coming back was that many black Americans mentioned that it was something that they needed to so.
Several of them said they would have voted for Obama no matter what his policies were simply because they were doing everything they could to right years of oppression and racism.
This got me to thinking…..
What exactly is the difference for someone of color who chooses to vote FOR a candidate just because he is black and another white person who states he will NOT vote for a candidate because he is black.
The person who chooses not to vote for someone because of their color is labeled as a racist, but the other way around it is viewed as supporting your heritage.
Are the two examples above equally as racist? Both are based on making a choice strictly on color of someone's skin.
Are these people not furthering the same Racism and segregation that they claim to have fought so hard to break free of?
I may be way off base here, but to me I see no difference.
Now before anyone gets any ideas, I have no problem with people of ANY Race, Religion, Gender or sexual orientation.
I believe it is wrong for anyone to make a choice either for or against someone based on those factors.
Just something to think about.
