2. The Democrat Bailout (yes, it is theirs, they pushed for it, on their terms, and they got it) in general. Already we see the influence peddling and rule bending as group after group try to restructure themselves to get some of that free taxpayer cash. THE HECK WITH THEM ALL. When someone bails ME out, instead of the brokers who work for the company that created this Credit Pozi Scheme I might listen. I lost big, and I am taking my medicine. They should, too. And I am sorry, but to all my neighbors who are gonna get foreclosed on......to darn bad. I work hard to make my bills. I budget. I sacrifice. If you can't, and you get in over your head, I am verrrrrrry sorry. And if the Dems run healthcare as well as they did Fannie and Freddie, well I think it is time I start looking for a faith healer, if my new, government mandated plan allows it. But I am guessing I won't be covered. And if i am, it will be a generic, non-denominational, multi-ethnicity "don't call me a faith" healer.

Fact is, the Republicans are the ones who want more government control over several private issues such as equal rights for Gays, Abortion, Marriage, Religion,
Equal rights for gays is NOT a private issue. There is no law against two consenting adults doing whatever. Forcing the population as a whole to accept "Gay Marriage", even when "Gay Marriage" in constantly defeated over and over again at the ballot box.....textbook Democrat move. Even if the people don't want it, lets MAKE them accept it, by having our judges overrule the will of the people. That IS SQUARELY extremist Democrats FORCING their opinion on the majority. And most Republicans have the same stance on abortion as I do....I ABHOR it personally, but believe that unless the Supreme Court changes the structure of Roe v. Wade, it is the law of the land and we live with it, and respect the law, while personally condemning it. I don't see many Republicans taking the abortion issue and running with it. It was almost a non-issue this time around.
And even if Palin wanted to teach Creationism in schools, Obama voted to teach birth control to 2ND and 3RD graders back in good 'ol Chicago. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, do I want little Susie learning that there is a "Higher" purpose, or do I want her to learn how to properly sheath a hoooo-ha so she don't get knocked up????? Actually, the answer is NEITHER. Schools should teach the 3 R's and leave the rest alone. Thats what most Republicans I know believe. It is the sneaky lefties who are always trying a little g-man end-around to brighten and enlighten those young minds to a higher level of thought.
Obama has reasserted his support of the People's right to bear arms. He supports bans on assault weapons. The problem is the definition of an assault weapon. Traditionally, an assault weapon was thought to be a firearm with the ability to fire in "automatic" mode (depress the trigger and the bullets keep coming) and had large ammunition capacity. It had a military connotation. Post-Brady it became "semi-automatic" with "bells and whistles" and "large capacity magazines". The problem is, the law left plenty of room for government (Democratic Judge/Lawmaker) interpretation. Go look at what constitutes the "bells and whistles". It is STYLE. Pistol grips on a shotgun, flash suppressors on a muzzle, and folding stocks all have a legitimate place on a home defense weapon, AND on some hunting weapons. While you may not like the idea that some people feel the "need" to protect themselves, as a retired NYPD Sergeant, I can pretty much assure you, sometimes there IS a need. And, in all my time in the street, I have NEVER, EVER had to arrest a gun owner of a legally purchased firearm. I arrested plenty of hoods with 'em, and put toe tags on quite a few ordinary folks who didn't have one too. We can't be everywhere. I am no fan of the NRA, they take the extreme view thar ANY new regulation is the beginning of the end, but I also see the sneak attack they fear---erosion of a Constitutionally guaranteed right bill by bill.
I voted for Obama. We need a fresh perspective. But puhleeeeze. Both sides overstep. At least the Republicans are up front about it. They will tell you to your face what they are trying to do. The Dems speak out of both sides of their mouths, because they KNOW what side most folks fall on, and they can't SAY that they really FEEL because they won't get elected. So you always have to be on your toes for the end run.
Again, JMHO, I respect your view. Gee, listening to Obama on the stump, he sounded pretty Republican. Lets see what he does. I am hoping it won't be a lot of the same old "say this, do that".
