Fact is, the Republicans are the ones who want more government control over several private issues such as equal rights for Gays, Abortion, Marriage, Religion, etc...There is supposed to be a separation of church and state, but it seems that only applies to the "other" religions. So it is the definition of hypocritcal to say less governemnt and vote to deny rights from millions of Americans. Religion is up to each religion to decide, not the government.
If you don't want to watch pron (misspelled to bypass the filter) on tv, change the channel, or go republican and vote to deny the right from those who want it...Same idea here as people not only decide they do not want to have an abortion or do not want to be gay and they take it another step and force others to abide by their opinions. THAT is too much government!! That is NOT the land of the free! I guess if you do not want abortions then you do not think it is too much government control for them to make laws against it...However that is hypocritical.
Although I feel this Country made a big step forward toward equal rights by electing a non rich old out-of-touch white dude again, ironically the majority voted to deny rights to gays, which also affected straight couples who choose not to be married. That is sad, but the good news is that it is a temporary set back which will not last.
Palin for example wanted to teach creationism in schools. Guess what, that would require the government to force schools to do so, hence, more government control over private and/or religious issues by the republicans, NOT the Democrats! So get it straight next time.
Only thing I have heard about Obama wanting to control would be the overly-ridiculous military-style, high capacity assault weapons getting in to the hands of the public. He isnt going to take away our right, only make sure those people without the common sense to know better do not buy these killing machines. There is no civilian reason to own them and it has nothing to do with self-defense. If you want to hunt and kill wabbit, you don't need to put 30 bullets in them to do so. Making them illegal does not prevent criminals from getting them but does prevent 5 year old kids from getting killed from playing with them in the house. What else can I buy with my constitutional right to bear arms? A SAM site for my back yard? A gatling gun on my roof? Maybe I believe it is my right to commute to work in a fully armed Apache chopper. Get real people.
Please someone help me understand how it can possibly be the Democrats bringing more governemnt control despite all these issues that are part of the republican big government agenda...
Yeah! Another day, another thread turns political on the chip board...
