Then....came an odd twist of fate. I was sharing a booth at that time with David Sarles. A collector came up and was looking in his display case and asked to see a particular chip. He went on to let out a sigh, and then stated that he would have to buy this one, but it broke his heart. David asked him why , and the guy told the following story. He had bought the very same chip earlier that day in mint condition, and had lost it. He had searched all day, but to no avail. It was the only chip he had wanted, and had come to the convention in hopes of finding one. He was tickled pink to find a second one even though the condition wasn't quite as mint as the one he bought earlier. Still, he was going to have to rebuy it. Knowing that Ross had found that very same chip earlier in the men's room, I blurted out "Hey!" It's your lucky day! I told him about the chip, and he proceeded to go to the membership desk. Ross was called....the man got his chip back, and as they say; "all's well that end's well".
So, let me nominate Ross Poppel as another fine chipper with plenty of integrity.
