Here is what I do. If I have an older complete book I leave it intact. If it is missing just one match I shuck it. With new books I remove the matches and throw the other new books that I have in an ice bucket where I keep my extra matchbooks. Or Slot buckets now that the ice bucket is full. I keep the covers or books in matchbook pages in binders.
