The first time I could vote ....
for a generational "change" (a change in vision about who we are, where we need to go, and how to get there) was in 1968. My candidate was killed.
For the first time in forty years I've been challenged to look at that kind of vision again. At 61 I have few illusions, but I think Obama is headed in the right (make that the "correct) direction. John McCain is basically an honest man. But at 72 he is still the same man he was in 1968 - a lone fighter pilot flying into harms way, trusting in his training, luck, and instincts. That cost him 5 1/2 years as a P.O.W. 40 years ago.
It's now 40 years past 1968. When I go to bed at night, I want someone in the White House who understands how much America has changed and what needs to be done to begin solving our problems. Maybe you don't.
