Below is some of the latest on Greg, sent by Carol late Sunday night. Below that is a picture of Greg taken this weekend, still able to manage a smile.

"Greg's still in Surgical ICU. The doc was in Saturday a.m. and said he wouldn't be inclined to move Greg over the weekend. He may well be moved tomorrow; just don't know yet. He's still having significant drainage from the right lung, which, according to the nurse, is something they would ordinarily want to see minimized before releasing him to the floor.

The best news of all today is that he has sat up twice--once supported by the bed, and once on his own, though assisted by the nurse and Robert. He sat up in the bed for 20 minutes, a full 10 minutes longer than the nurse was going to have him sit up.

Later, the nurse and Robert helped get him out of bed where he stood for a minute, then sat with his legs over the side for 5 minutes. He helped pull himself up to sit up, and then lowered himself back down. The nurse is a petite little thing, so Greg asked for Robert to help because 'he's strong,' he said. Robert took his responsibilities very seriously and was quite proud of his dad, and to have been able to help. He stood right by Greg's side ready to catch him if need be.

By the second sitting session, he was exhausted and went to sleep immediately.

The nurse promises Physical Therapy will get him up to walk tomorrow; the PTs don't work on weekends, so he's had very little therapy over the last 3 days. The therapy is critical to him getting his lungs cleared out to avoid pneumonia."
