Here you go Ricky
In Response To: RHere you go Skippie ()

I saw that posted on another message board more than three weeks ago, by someone who didn't specify that he'd received it as an email. My responses were/are made in a manner directed to the origin author.

"If you grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you're 'exotic, different.'"

Left out is part of his childhood spent in Indonesia with his mother. Growing up in those places certainly isn't the average experience of an average American child (or family).

"Grow up in Alaska eating mooseburgers: a quintessential American story."

Is Obama running against Palin? No wonder you're confused. If he was running against Palin, what does local foodstuffs have to do with anything? She could have grown up in Colorado where buffalo is available to eat (and its pretty good).

"If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim."

Huh? His first name has no meaning in reference to any religion or automatic assumption of a lack of patriotism. Where in the heck did you come up with that?!?

"Name your kids Willow, Trig, and Track: you're a maverick."

Huh again? You left out Bristol and Piper. Who gives a darn what people name their kids, and why is it important? A clue...no one cares, and it isn't important.

"Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable."

...a rather bizarre insinuation, but if you say so, it must be true.

"Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating: you're well grounded."

...another rather bizarre insinuation, but if you say so, it must be true. Also, Obama attended three different colleges to obtain his degrees, if numbers matter.

"If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer,"

A matter of opinion. Explain what was brilliant about those three years.

"become the first black President of the Harvard Law Review,"

A genuine and admirable accomplishment.

"create a voter registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters,"

He didn't create it. It was created in 1982, and has significant ties to ACORN, a group well known for promoting voter fraud.

"spend 12 years as a Constitutional Law professor,"

I'd like to see some real numbers on how many classes he actually taught during his entire tenure. His entry into the position was a fellowship and office to work on his first book. Two years into that tenure, he was hired by a Chicago law firm, a job he held for the rest of his tenure.

"spend 8 years as a State Senator representing a district with over 750,000 people,"

And served his district by voting "present" on legislation a ridiculous number of times.

"become chairman of The state Senate's Health and Human Services committee,"

Where he refused to bring to a vote the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, a bill he had previously voted against, and previously voted "present" when the bill was put to a vote.

"spend 4 years in the United States Senate representing a state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's Affairs committees,"

He is still in his first term in the US Senate. 4 years? He started running for President less than 6 months after he took office in the US Senate. 4 years?

"you don't have any real leadership experience."

Voting "present" isn't leadership experience. Campaigning for another office just months after being elected isn't leadership experience - it is only campaign experience.

"If your total resume is: local weather girl (sportscaster), 4 years on the city council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with fewer than 7,000 people, 20 months as the governor of a state with 650,000 people, then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking executive."

If you want to compare apples to apples, Alaska's population is slightly smaller than the population of Delaware. Palin is the Governor of Alaska, has actual executive experience in that position. Joe Biden, Obama's VEEP selection, has only served as a Senator from a state that isn't much larger. Where is his executive experience?

"If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're not a real Christian."

Who knows? His association with the Black Theology teachings espoused within the Trinity United Church most certainly aren't mainstream Protestant.

"If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a Christian."

I guess you are privy to the feelings experienced between John and Carol after he returned home after spending more than 5 years being tortured by the North Vietnamese. I'm not, but I would suggest they were both very different from what they were before. Their split was amicable. If you want to place your own judgment on what happened, that of course is your prerogative. Multiple marriages aren't a dis-qualifier for elected office.

"If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society."

Does responsible age appropriate sex education include 1st graders? Some libs, and some school districts do. That is societal erosion.

"If, while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no other option in sex education in your state's school system while your unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant, you're very responsible."

Back to Obama running against Palin are we?. She is an advocate of abstinence as a form of teenage sex education, but not for it to be the only curricula. As to Bristol being pregnant, I'm pretty sure Sarah isn't the father, nor was she present during conception. You can teach your children and only hope they take it to heart. If Bristol had an abortion (and she still could according to the Obama method of birth control), then Sarah's position on these matters would be hypocritical.

"If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values don't represent America's."

Huh? Who is Michelle running against, and during what time in her life since she became Mrs Obama has she been gainfully unemployed? Nothing wrong with chasing a paycheck while raising a family, or is there?

"If you're husband is nicknamed "First Dude", with at least one DUI conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession of Alaska from the USA, your family is extremely admirable."

Now Obama is running against Todd Palin? Maybe "First Wuss" would be a more favorable title for the husband of a female Governor. "First Dude" is more fitting I'd think. If you want to delve into the behavior of a spouse of a VP nominee when said spouse was 20 years old, I'd suggest you also include the admitted use of pot and cocaine by Barack Obama during the same time frame of his life. Obama didn't get caught, but is still "The One". Todd got caught. He isn't running for any office. Secession of Alaska from the USA. I lived in Alaska before it was a state. One of my sisters was born in Fairbanks at that time. She is and always has been an American (just in case someone might want to know her status because of where and when she was born). The group that Todd Palin belonged to was/is looking for some of the considerations given to Native American tribes in the lower 48. It isn't unlike the Akaka bill (The Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act of 2007), proposing there should be a Kingdom of Hawaii, a sovereign nation with its own government, sponsored by Daniel Akaka, Democrat Senator from Hawaii. Barack Obama is a supporter of this bill. Obama's actually running for high office while Todd Palin isn't, nor can Todd Palin affectively support any bill in Congress.

All of the words and thoughts expressed above in bold are mine, I wrote them. Few people will sit down and challenge point-by-point some of the pabulum that is floating around the internet these days. Most will just copy and paste the original without questioning any of it. That is sad.
