Why would you charge for a online chip guide when this club has 501 status? Aren't the books good enough? I think the manufacturer's records are available for the most part. If you find folks that will spend the time and money to do it I am sure they can afford to do it without being paid or the club making money from it.
I know it takes time and money to do any kind of website and do it well. I have my own site that because it primarily deals with those da*n ashtrays it is regarded as a hors$sh$t site by the hardcore chip people. Well, that's fine but I have never charged for looking at what I have accomplished and will accomplish.
I'm sorry...I don't agree with over charging non-members to get into the convention and I don't agree with charging to access the CCGTCC website regardless of what is posted there. Heck, Mark Cotton and Allan Anderson have spent many hours adding the magazine to the site...Is that going to become part of the "Restricted Access Area?"
You want more membership? You don't do it by charging people that have an interest. Let potential collectors look at the great items there are to collect and let them see all the hard work others have done to promote the field of casino collectibles. Whether you want to believe it or not...It's not all chips. Ron Clewell is doing a site for swizzle sticks. Mark Cotton has the matchbooks. I don't think they are charging anyone for all their hard work. Their efforts promote interest and get people involved.
You guys are promoting the death of a collecting field. Once it falls into bad favor it usually doesn't come back. It has happened in a few other areas I have collected.
Think twice before you add that "Restricted Access Area" to your site. I believe most that stumble onto the site and have interest will just click away and on to something else.
As membership in this club continues to deteriorate I can't see this as helping.
My list of contributors is below. I am honored to have their contributions and knowledge. I am sure they and others will continue to contribute for whatever needs done on the CCGTCC site.
