After Cindy had her medical problem last year and spent a week in the hospital in Alsaka she had to go to the ER here at home because of some breathing problem. They kept her for a few hours and then was going to get her admitted overnite in a room. Only problem was that there were no rooms available so they kept her in the emergency room for 48 hours. Total bill? Would you believe $12,000?? Since we have BC/BS insurance they gave us a standard discount. What was the bill after the discount? Would you believe $2500?? Now $2500 is not cheap but the problem is that if we did not have any insurance we would have been responsible for the whole $12,000. Our health care system is really screwed up.
