First of all, you were approached as a friend & as a friend, I would assume that I would be paid back. I would doubt that you've asked for interest, just payment of the money lent. Some "friend"...hopefully, this "friend" is not a chipper or a club member; and if this person is / was a member, I would hope that you would let the other members know who this person is to warn others not to make the same mistake. Tough call...

Sorry about your situation, Chris...what it does demonstrate, though, is that you're a pretty nice guy to help out in the first place.
