What was actually going on here was that a work crew at the South Point is moving the Benny Binion statute into it's new home. Out of sight from the pigeons (the flying ones anyway) the statue, once located Downtown, has been given a new home by South Point owner Michael Gaughan.
I captured this photo (late night (disregard the date/time)) as it was being moved through the casino to where it is now located, just beyond the slot club booth and cafe, approaching the hotel towers and I believe the Convention area escalators.
I invited Tammy Lynch to be the judge and select a winner. As a reward for being the judge, I told her that she could have second pick from the chips left in the prize pool. However, being the generous and fun loving person that she (and Darryl are) they instead suggested giving out a second place prize, which would be a $1 Lucky's chip from them. And going further, they would give up the reward chip (for being the judge) to a third place finisher!!!!
This is the prize pool from which the 1st Place finisher has first dibs and from which the 3rd place finisher has next dibs:
So, the winners are:
In First Place, we have: The H.O.R.S.E. game is in the poker room
As submitted by Doug Deems! Congratulations Doug and please post here your chip choice!
In Second Place, we have: Breaking news - 2 men try to cart off statue. LVTV channel 7 exclusive - 2 men (identified as L. Tan and R. Poppel) tried using a utility cart to make off with the statue of Benny Binion. They would have made it out of the casino with the priceless statue but a few chairs blocked their way from making a clean escape with the statue. The suspects left the casino with only a few roulette chips and a bag of ashtrays. No charges will be filed.
As submitted by Ron Clewell! Congratulations Ron, you are the winner of the $1 Lucky's chip and will need to send your addy to Tammy.
Finally, in Third Place, we have a tie and Tammy tried to dump it back on me to pick the winner. No Way!!! We have a tie and both will be able to pick a chip of their choice from the prize pool in the order of who comes closest to a secret number I have in-mind between 1 and 10. The Third Place Co-Winners are:
Jerry Leonardo with: "Horse drops bundle at South Point, some say it's manure."
Mississippi Dave with: "No it's ok, it's just my organtic Hoveround, Ah'm goin' green."
Congratulations to Jerry and Dave, if both of you will please pick a number between 1 and 10 we can decalre the picking order of your prize.
Well, I'd like to thank everyone for their participation and especially thank Tammy Lynch for being our judge!
Like Steve P and other, just trying to have some fun!
Jim
