Instead of the present income tax. That way everybody would pay something. Too many people who are well off (including corporations) pay little or NO tax at all. If citizens had to pay federal consumption taxes on their luxury purchases instead of being able to write them off come income tax time ... maybe this country would be better off financially if everybody paid their fair share?
