Here's my problem with an Assoc. Membership at the moment. I have had the fortune to recently develop a personal relationship with a woman named Linda. We're having the best time in each other's company and I have invited her to accompany me to LV for the convention. An Associate Membership requires that the AM have the same address as the regular member. That is not appropriate to our situation and when I introduce my friend to my friends in the Club, I don't want an A- # to infer a cohabitation situation. Thus a privacy issue. As a matter of fact, the very friendly rates that South Point offers for the Big Show makes two rooms affordably practical.
An event membership would afford the holder the privilege to attend the banquet and accompany the regular to seminars and have easy access to the borse floor. Limits could be in place for tourny paticipation. Show floor access as it stands now where AM isn't desired requires a tedious process of day admission and frankly, that seemed rather steep this year. Pre-Reg would be nice for an Event Member also but any club incentives could be limited. I think the price of an Event Membership should be on a par with Assoc. and strictly time limited so as not to constitute a dodge around Associate Membership.
I don't know but it seems like there might be a few other folks that might like to have this available also. Lets not forget an attraction that Las Vegas offers that we may not think about. As my girlfriend Linda pointed out about Las Vegas, "They have all those wedding chapels down there." Yoicks!
Anyway, I hope you all get to meet this lady, you'll like her and she'll like you all. Although not a chip collector at the moment, she has asked pertinent questions about the the little round beasties and she did work for Bill Harrah once upon a time. See you in June!
