Phyllis, Archie's done a good job of explaining why the full membership does not vote on Hall of Fame inductees. It's not a popularity contest.

Every member is encouraged to recommend someone (or more than one!) for consideration, and in the last few years, that participation has been woefully small. The membership simply does not take advantage of the opportunity.

The Board of Directors of the Club has nothing to do with the recommendation/nomination process. Individual officers are encouraged to recommend members for consideration, just as all Club members are, but as a body, the Board has no input.

The next issue of the Club magazine will have the recommendation form and the explanation of the process for 2009. I urge everyone who reads this post to think about who really deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, and to recommend those people when they receive the forms.
