As far as the postponment, though it requires but a rubber stamp, it was my understanding that final vote will not be until next week.
In the meantime for that week, the casino's will be totally smoke free.
What I find amazing, is that in the opinion of Donald Trump and many others is if smoking were to be allowed that it would cure all the ills that have befallen the casino industry.
Gene tells me that things are quite the same in Vegas and thinks that some properties will close.
Foxwoods (someone correct me if I'm wrong) has either laid of or is in the process of laying off 600 employees.
Their revenues for the year are down 7% compared to the 5.6% in Atlantic City and Foxwoods is not totally smoke free.
I have also heard and again correct me if I'm wrong that Harrah's has chosen to remain smoke free even if smoking were permitted.
As I say, this is only second hand information.
Why don't we address what the real problems are in A/C......The Economy, Gas Prices, Cut back in comps and most of all new competiton from both Pennsylvania and New York.
(Sorry I have to throw in a bit of politics here LOL) But it's akin to having Obama win the election as people feel it will cure everything overnight. Unfortunately, regardless of who wins, nothing much will change here anytime soon either.
