Didn't have any current room offer from them and the comp from Eldorado expired a couple of weeks ago but the joint is having a farewell promotion and internet booking got me two nights @ $21 ea. Oh yeah, they will perserve my points and I can use them at the other properties the genius owners of Fitzgerld's has. That would be Alamo Travel Center in Sparks and Topaz Lodge in Minden. Whew! The good times are rollin' now! I've been to Alamo, it's a truck stop. If you play there, always get your beer in a long neck, because there's a fist fight gonna start pretty quick and the extra leverage you get in a tall Pabst will come in handy.
Instead of cashing in my points for one of them Fitz hats I guess I can load up there at Alamo on air fresheners, leather gloves and anodized fifth-wheel puller hooks. There's a Pilot truck stop I Cat Scale at regular where a guy walked in with a loaded crossbow one night. I told them, "Geez, half your cooler is filled with beer and you're selling Yellow Jackets and beanies as "Diet" and "Allergy" pills at the diesel counter. Seems to me that you can expect to be held hostage every once in a while. Put that reweigh on our account Diane."
Don't know if I'll make it to Alamo this trip but since I ain't fussy, I would like to hit Sierra Sid's neighbor for the first time, Western Village. Nope, not going to Minden, to many goat-ropers in pickups out that-a-way.
Snow? Yeah, it snowed without much accumulation in Reno Thursday it said in the RGJ. Not going to make Crystal Bay this trip, Mt. Rose Hwy was restricted to snow tires and traction devices for awhile. I went up there on my return trip from the 2008 convention because it may have been the last chance to visit Tahoe Biltmore. Changes coming to the North Shore and the dummies can score a trifecta if they take out Lincoln Fitzgerald's last joint standing at Tahoe as a result. Be back Wednesday.
