It is about self-restraint. There is a difference, in case you didn't know.
Just because you CAN say something does not mean you SHOULD say something.
The smart person thinks they know the answer. The wise person knows it too, but also knows when NOT to say it.
Personally, if the posts kept to intelligent issue discussions, I'd be into it. They don't. The almost always slip into a "you neo-cons think that....." or "you liberals think that.....", and what I take from it is that people I thought were decent, fun-loving chippers are pretty much the same as a lot of other close-minded, angry people I encounter everywhere else in life.
My selfish view is this place is my nice, fun respite from all that venom. It usually is, until election cycles kick in.
No one says you CAN'T say it. The other pledge asked pledgers to volunteer not to "say" negative stuff too. Did anyone say that was censorship? What is the difference?
Let me ask this question.......have you EVER been swayed to change your opinion on any political issue because of something you read here? Enlighten me, because I think this stuff is just as valuable as something I read in People magazine on the can. A little self-indulgent waste of time.
I like ncr posts, just don't like what the political ones degenerate into.
End of rant.
