I have been on it for a couple of years and it really does make a big difference in my life.
Interesting that you talk about CPAP therapy, but mention that you have an "APAP" machine. The difference? (This is for people scoring at home, I'm sure YOU know the difference!) APAP machines adjust pressure as needed which offers a lot of flexibility as your situation changes, cheaper straight CPAP machines do not. Guess which one Medical Equipment providers want to sell you? Which ever one give them the most profit.
As I said in previous posts, if you are thinking of getting tested, diagnosed and eventually getting treatment, you need to educate yourself on a whole range of sub-topics, including the various types of machines available. THE best site I have found for independent, personal advice is: http://www.cpaptalk.com
REAL people post what they have been through, how to deal with sleep doctors, sleep clinics, Medical Equipment providers, etc. As someone there once said "no one, no your doctor, not your sleep clinician, not your insurance company has as much motivation to get you well as you do".
I know Terry said before to be careful about taking other people's advice on that board about such an important subject, and I can sort of understand that. But I look at it this way: I would rather read actual experience from lots of people and figure out who to believe than read manufacturer sites that do nothing but say 'we are the best'. When you look to book hotels, would you rather read through people's experiences on Tripadvisor, or just the hotel's offical web site?
Quick disclaimer: the site is 'sponsored' by an equipment seller. But I will say this: in the 2 years I have been reading there, I have never seen anything censored by the sponsor. And by the way, the sponsor (http://www.cpap.com) is, in my opinion, the best equipment provider on the net. I had my machine die 2 months ago, I was able to replace it in one day (from Houston to NJ). The machine I ordered was out of stock, their shipping dept upgraded be to a BETTER machine for free (about a $100 difference).
And no, no one is giving me anything for this write up....
Sleep well....
