David, an interesting note about $8 Pai-Gow bets..

You said: "Anyway, I dont believe ANY of the $8 chips from anywhere are/were ever used on a baccarat table. $7.60 payouts are way too much hassle vbg Those casinos that do use them do so on Pai-Gow tables (where betting in multiples of $8 is good).

Several years ago the Palace Station did an $8 chip and it was put on the Pai Gow tables. However!!!!!! they calculated the commisssion as if a $10 bet was being made when an $8 chip was used. In multiples, they always rounded up and only had quarters as the smallest denomination. So, unless you had 5 of those $8's as your bet (or multiples of $40) then betting in multiples of $8 was not such a good thing, and in fact, the suggestion that an "8" was lucky was oply lucky for the house! vbg
