Here is my abbridged history...

In the early 1980's the Pratt Hotel Corporation purchased the Sand's in Las Vegas from the Summa Corporation. Around the same time they purchased the Brighton Casino Hotel in Atlantic City and renamed a hotel in San Juan and they also had one more property renamed in the Caribbean (someone will know this one). Pratt ran into financial problems and eventually lost their Caribbean, sold off the property in Puerto Rico and Atlantic City. The Atlantic City property retained the name. The Las Vegas Property was sold off first to MGM; who then turned around quickly and sold it to Sheldon Adelson (former Boston Cab Driver and founder of the Comdex Show).

The name of the public corporation that Sheldon Adelson controls is Las Vegas Sands; the properties currently in their portfolio...

The Venetian
The Palazzo
Sand's Macao (Macau)
The Venetian Macao (Macau)
The Cotai Strip (Under Construction) (Macau)
Bethlehem Works Slot Casino in PA
The Venetian Singapore (Under Construction)

A few years back Las Vegas Sand's was the backer behind casino gaming in Nebraska and had a proposed hotel and convention center in Omaha; And it is now believed that they are backing the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska on a hotel casino project in Carter Lake, Iowa - Which is a little piece of Iowa on the Nebraska side of the Missouri River in Omaha.
