The Sand's was a small downtown Reno motel when bought by Peter Cladianos Jr. in 1965; The motel had 3 slot machines. In 1969 the Cladianos family added 24 rooms to the Sand's motel; renaming it the Sand's Inn. Now with more than 100 room the property could apply for a gaming license outside the Reno redline area. In March 1970 the Sand's was approved for 415 slot machines.
In 1978 the Sand's motor inn constructed the Regency tower and eventually moved most of the casino over to the new tower location. In 1981 the location of the original Sand's casino and the Denny's restaurant was renamed Mr. C's Casino and lasted a few years.
