Listening to Obama everyday won't tell you who he is or what he represents. Here's just one topic, the war in Iraq, a topic very high on his Presidential platform.
BHO: "We have to realize that neither Iran nor Syria wants to see the security vacuum in Iraq filled with chaos, terrorism, refugees, and violence, as it could have a destabilizing effect throughout the entire region and within their own countries." 01/19/07
Syria and Iran were gateways to the insurgency in Iraq, Iran in particular. Iran was (probably still is) training, arming and sending terrorists to kill people, mostly innocent Iraqi citizens. Their interests are and have been best served by chaos in Iraq.
BHO: "Our troops have performed brilliantly in Iraq, but no amount of American soldiers can solve the political differences at the heart of somebody else's civil war," Obama said. "That's why I have introduced a plan to not only stop the escalation of this war, but begin a phased redeployment that can pressure the Iraqis to finally reach a political settlement and reduce the violence." 01/30/07.
Before the surge. He was dead wrong.
BHO: "The idea that the situation in Iraq is improving is simply not credible, and it's not reflective of the facts on the ground. The hard truth is, there's no military solution to this war. Our troops have done all that they have been asked and more, but no amount of American soldiers are gonna solve the political differences that lie in the heart of the sectarian conflict. Extending the surge is just going to put more men and women in the crossfire of a civil war." 04/10/07
More on the surge. Dead wrong again. You want him to lead?
BHO:"It is indisputable that we've seen violence reduced in Iraq. That's a credit to our brave men and women in uniform. The 1st Cavalry of Fort Hood played an enormous role in pushing back al Qaeda out of Baghdad. We honor their service. But this is a tactical victory imposed upon a huge strategic blunder." 02/21/08
More on the surge, but this time, admitting it was working. How could that happen? And what would have happened had we taken his advice to stop the surge?
BHO:"The commander in chief sets the mission. That's not the role of the generals. The president's approach lately has been to say, well, I'm just taking cues from General Petraeus. Well, the president sets the mission. The general and our troops carry out that mission. And unfortunately we have had a bad mission. Once I've given them a new mission, that we are going to proceed deliberately in an orderly fashion out of Iraq, if they come to me and want to adjust tactics, then I will certainly take their recommendations into consideration. 04/16/08 He also said: "Finally, I said publicly that it is my preference not to micromanage the Commander-in-Chief in the prosecution of war. Ultimately, I do not believe that is the ideal role for Congress to play." 01/19/07
Talking out of more than one side of his mouth. If that wasn't enough, he tried to take the execution of a foreign war out of the hands of both the Commander in Chief and Congress, but also the hands of said foreign country. IOW he was asking, please let me, a freshman Senator running for President of the USA, dictate what will happen in your country, to your people and our troops serving there, until I can get elected! See below....
WHILE campaigning in public for a speedy withdrawal of US troops from Iraq, Sen. Barack Obama has tried in private to persuade Iraqi leaders to delay an agreement on a draw-down of the American military presence.
According to Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Obama made his demand for delay a key theme of his discussions with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July (2008).
"He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington," Zebari said in an interview.
"Obama insisted that Congress should be involved in negotiations on the status of US troops - and that it was in the interests of both sides not to have an agreement negotiated by the Bush administration in its 'state of weakness and political confusion.'"
Barack Obama wants troop levels to stay the same in Iraq until Bush is out of office. Why? ...I know the answer. The entire article is here -
Read or hear more than "just one" of his speeches. When he isn't speaking in platitudes, you'll find that the man is without substance, and often flat out wrong on his positions and beliefs. If you can vote for this man with a clean conscience knowing more about him than what you see in campaign ads, there's a wire loose somewhere (JMHO).
