Just registering more voters will not ensure that we do not have another 2000 mess. If we did not have the electoral college we would have not had a problem with the election in 2000. Al Gore won the popular vote by over 2 million votes. Why should people bother to vote when our vote does not determine who will become president? The electoral college decides the election and they are not bound to vote for whom we voted for. Until the day we rid ourselves of this antiquated system we cannot have a fair election and we will have continued voter apathy. I have voted in every election since I was old enough to do so but after 2000 I have had to ask myself does it really does matter?
