The basement will be a work in progress. My basement is fully finished, looks just like the other two floors as far as walls, etc, and measures a bit more than 1,800 square feet. Over the years the soil on that side of the house has compacted or something because when I noticed the carpet being wet I went outside and found about 5 inches of water up against the house. To top it off, the cover over one of the window wells had shifted and it had been funneling water into the window well for 48 hours. The window well was full to window sill height.

About 2/3 of the carpet in the basement was wet. We moved everything out of my office to the upstairs, and moved everything else to the dry part. I had someone come in and pull up all the carpet and all is dry now. But, before we can have new carpet put down I have to have a landscaping company come and rip out all the stuff on that side of the house, build up the dirt on that side and slope it away from the house, resod the lawn and put in new flower beds, etc. Then I can get the basement recarpeted and move my office back downstairs. Right now I am set up in our formal dining area. What a pain in the ###.
