Theoretically, this can also be explained as two separate batches, or machine runs to complete one order, but I think it's a separate re-order because there is yet an additinal, but subtle and consistent difference. That difference deals with the CICs. While tough to explain, let alone show, I'll still try to describe. For the small half-moon versions, the CICs appear to be of a softer metal, or tyhe striking is deeper, causing greater distortion of the metal that does not get struck. On the large half-moon versions, the CICs are smooth and flush across the surface and only have depressions where the words and denomination is struck.
