Not many collectors trying to "preserve gaming history" thirty years ago. Unused dollar chips from the 70's are probably several hundred times as scarce as those in average condition such as you show. One of the value aspects of James' book that I hope he addresses in the new edition. Value should not be hundreds of times higher as their aren't many collectors who demand UNC chips, but value of an UNC older dollar chip should probably be 10-15x the price of an Average condition chip.

I look for unusually nice older chips as I roam the shows and have picked up a few, like the GN dollar with house mold.
