AC another view

We don't stay overnight in AC too often because we have 2 teenagers and it's not easy coordinating everything and leaving them at home by themselves is not something we like to do. But we did stay at Harrahs one time in the last year and enjoyed it. I checked in and they had a man standing there at the front of the line greeting you, talking to you and helping the line move as fast as possible. My wife has gone to the Red Door Spa twice and loved it. Harrahs ususally has a scaled down Broadway play at a reasonable price - we've seen a couple there.

Yes, the young crowd is probably bringing the money into the nightclubs in AC which than spills over into the casino. Any night of the week the Gypsy Tequila bar in the Borgata is packed. The Trump Marina deck has the young crowd on the weekends with live music. And I like that. Just as the Pool at Harrahs is geared to a party atmosphere. We were going to go down there a few months ago to see Bret Michaels from Poison there, but decided not to make the trip. Several of the casinos have Beach Bars and live music. It's a transformation that needed to happen to bring in the younger generation.

Rooms are expensive in July and August and any weekend. It p*sses me off too. But, the moderate gambler can get a free room Sunday - Thursday the other 10 months. Trump Marina and the Harrahs properties often send me free offers for those days and I'm not a big gambler. Of course that means taking a day off work and figuring out what to do with the kids. My son just started college and my daughter is in high school. So unfortunately/fortunately the "kids" problem will go away in a couple years. Anyone that has sent their first one off to college knows what I mean about the "unfortunate" part of the problem.

As for the smoking, I'm not going to throw stones at those who choose to smoke, but we don't smoke. In fact, my wife doesn't like to gamble, so she b'tches everytime we walk through the casino because the smell of smoke. rofl I can tolerate it because I enjoy gambling. Kind of like bars in the old days, I liked drinking so I tolerated the smoking. But I do draw the line when shelling out top dollar for dinner.

I really like AC. The Boardwalk, Restaurants, and Nightlife. As a nonsmoker, I can't wait until October when the nonsmoking rule is enforced. The current one is a joke.

I went to one of the casinos in West Virginia last month when visiting family. NO free drinks and not a d*mn thing outside the casino. I had to have a drink so I got the special of the night which was a $2 Iron City (IC) light. Wonderful, a $2 can of beer. Basically just a casino and race track. And probably some country music later in the night rofl

Hmmm... AC grin or WV?
