Fred why 45 ???
Maybe you can get the grandkids a chip binder and if old enough they can get involved with you and get interested at a young age,If you live far away you could mail them a current 1.00 house chip each week along with an email. I involve my two daughters Cameron 11 and Ryann 15 (yes 2 N's) with the hobby and they each have 2 small binders filled with fractionals 1's and some 5's. Cameron loves the Excalibur and told me one day she will be a famous movie actress and will buy me the Excalibur, now I know that may never happen but she is involved with me in the hobby and she has more 5.00 excalibur chips than I do !! I think both kids will retain at least a part of my collection with fond memories of spending time with their dad. My only stipulation to them is that the chips transfer blood to blood and never go with an exhusband. Maybe try to involve them sooner, I dont know their ages but I do remember that time with my granfather was magical. I see medium range chips going so cheap that I am winning many first bid auctions that I would have certainly been outbid on before in past years. Will the hobby die?? I dont know and would like to think not. I believe we need to advertise for other colllectores that dont know we exist, "My Space" is good but maybe pay a little $$ to produce a cool video that shows the spirit of our club and set it to music and put it on YOU TUBE, add many search names in the field and offer a discount if you join through You tube, say a 5.00 discount on first years membership so we know how many members are coming from that venue. We could even have "Sponsers" that pick up that lost 5.00 from the promo. Just some ideas I have, there are many more dancing in my head but thats another day. I dont think we will let the hobby die, I wont let it go !!
