I used to collect baseball cards, then I watched when investors decided cards were a great investment, and it basically ruined the hobby. My cards dropped so much in value they are barely worth the cardboard they are printed on now. And there are SO few collectors I can't even give my cards away.
I don't want to see the same fate happen to fellow chippers. I don't want to see chippers become so disgruntled that they just give up. If I can get some good deals for now, and just stay a chip geek instead of it becoming this "trendy" collection to have, I'm just fine with that.
Maybe I'm crazy, but if a convention is held at Sam Boyd Stadium and there is no opportunity to sit down & speak with fellow collectors because each table is six deep with suits driving up prices, I think the fun would be sucked dry. I like things as they are. It seems like every day somebody new is introducing themselves here, so I'm not too worried about the hobby dying.
Besides, I don't have much else to live for. Clay Bennett stole my Seattle SuperSonics & hijacked them to Oklahoma City, so I'd like to have something I can look forward to!
