Not really, as you pointed out, the economy is down. A lot of people don't have extra money to spend on their hobbies.
Also, you talked about 20 years down the road, a lot of the collectors will be gone. I have news for you, there won't be very many casinos using chips in 20 years. Then the hobby will really be down. Just hardcore collectors at that point, collecting obsolete chips.
One of the biggest draws to the hobby over the course of about 11 years, was the release of limited edition & commemorative chips. Those releases are becoming fewer & fewer as time goes on & that will only hurt the hobby more than it already has.

My collection will be going to the Museum of Gaming History. To do with as they feel is best.
