It has been customary in the past for candidates to CC & GTCC offices to announce their intentions to seek office prior to and during the current (2008) convention. Why is that ... you may ask? It is because the convention is the last opportunity to publicly COMMUNICATE, face to face, with potential office holders (one on one) prior to the nominations and election process. This didn't happen this year and as far as I can tell, Jim Follis is the only one who has announced his candidacy.

I personally think that if anyone is seriously interested in seeking club office they should let it be known immediately so that pledges of support can be solicited by the candidates, whomever they may be.

Also, along similar lines, I think that if any of the current officers are planning not to seek re-election, that fact should be publicly announced as well instead of waiting until the last possible moment so that others can give some serious thought to running.
