When people are looking for machines, they should carefully understand the differences between the types of machines:
- CPAP - this is set a specific pressure based on the sleep study or Dr's perscription..the downside to this is that if your condition gets better or worse the machine is still giving you the same 'help'
- APAP (or adjusting CPAP) - this style has a range of pressure, measures how many apneas you have and adjusts to the minimum pressure you need. This is what I have (resprionics Remstar I think).
- Bi Level - not sure on this type, maybe Terry can explain
The other thing to look for is if software is available to monitor the machine - with that you can see the pressure the machine is using, if you are still getting interruptions, etc.
