A few years back my son got rear ended turning onto our street. The person that hit him had insurance. I filed a claim with my insurance so I could get the repairs done quickly and paid the $100 deductible - the story from my insurance company was that they would recover their costs and my deductible from the insurance co. of the person who hit him. After several months I got a letter say that the accident was actually caused by a 3rd party passing the person who hit my son on the right and that person had no insurance so I would not be reimbursed for my $100. I was pretty upset but in order to get my insurance to cover the repairs I had signed a "subjugation" document giving the insurance co. the right to do all the suing. At least it was a cheap lesson.
Be careful in dealing with your own insurance co.....
