A new Hughes biography that I liked alot and recommended by David Swartz is Howard Hughes Power, Paranoia & Palace Intrique by Geoff Schumacher. Very sympathetic to Hughes and Maheu and Vegas-centric by a Las Vegas author. Great coverage of the Hughes empire after HH passed away, very interesting take on the Melvin Dumar chapter and a poignant "what if..." chapter. Cheap on Amazon when I bought it.
I Want To Quit Winners by Harold Smith Sr. The down-the-rabbit-hole story of Harolds Club. All copies are autographed by Sr. You'll need to read Dwayne Kling's Harold's Club oral history, A Family Affair afterward to understand some of what was going on in Harold's head! , don't pay more than $10, shouldn't be hard to find.
Oh man, loved Poker Face!
