Hi Gene!
We have never had the opportunity to meet, so let me introduce myself:
I'm Frank, a collector of Lake Tahoe casino chips, postcards and matchbooks.
But I'm also a patriot, having enlisted and served during the Viet Nam war.
And ever since, I have had an interest in our system of government and how it impacts each and everyone of our lives.
I'm the father of three, and believe that without engaging in our political process I do my children a dis-service. Which is why I bother to post comments that I believe are relevant to the "threads" that you seem to be taking exception to. I try not to initiate political debate on these boards because I understand that this is a chip collectors messge board, not some political message board. But that is not to say that I wont weigh in with my comments when I see others doing the same.
I believe if you bother to research any post that I have put up in the past you will find that each and every time that it was of a political nature it was always in responce to some previous post that someone else had put up, whether being supportive of the left or the right.
I almost see that as my civic duty, because I care about our Country and feel an obligation to share our views and opinions with each other, taking full advantage of one of the corner-stones that has made this Nation of ours so great: free-speech!
I'm sorry if any of my opinions disagree with your own!
I'm sorry that there are people in this Country that might not share your views on everything.
But that's what being an American is all about ... respecting the right of every other American to his or her's own personal opinions.
And since this in an election year, with so much at stake, I think it's probably best that you anticipate not only more comments from myself on this board when appropriate, but most likely, by some others as well.
I hope this introduction is met with an open mind and not taken in the wrong way.
And I will make this promise to you and everone else who feels the need to share their opinions on this or any other message board, that I will always respect your right to your own opinion...as I do hope you will mine.
