As it turned out, well it seems the sentence was based upon the fact that the guy was pretty much acting in self defense.
I think that if the fight wasn't as a result of the fact that it was a continuation of something that started inside the poker room, he might have gotten off scott free.
I'm just wondering how big the knife was and if it exceeded the legal limitations where it could have been considered a conceled weapon.
I suppose that not being the case ( blade under 3 inches) had a lot of bearing on the case.
I would imagine that it was not the intent for this man to cause a fatal injury. I guess that's why it's only 5 years....
