I am in email discussions with an individual who has come across generic (comet) wheel checks that he believes are from one of two Texas illgals from the 1950's or later (one closed in '64). I believe we are talking about the Dallas area.

Here is what he has said: "There were 2 casinos in that area. One was called The Colonial because it was in an old colonial style house. The other was called the 183 Club because it was on Hwy 183 but you couldn't see it from the freeway (duh).

My mom went to the 183 Club once right after she married my dad in the mid 50's. She was 19. She said you had to dress up and it was like Monte Carlo or a Bond movie. She said they served the meanest steak in the county."

I have asked for scans of the chips, but since these places are not listed in Hertel's guide, I was wondering if anyone has knowledge of these establishments?
