Whatever your feeling is about repairing cancelled chips, John, the fact remains that some of us would rather have the professionally repaired chip than one with a hole or notch. If TCR is to reflect the way the world is, rather than the way some would wish it could be, it should show a premium (however, slight) for repaired, cancelled chips.

When each of us chose to collect scarce chips in this hobby, the potential for remakes and repairs must have entered our minds. High prices for very scarce chips will eventually cause remakes and repairs to be done; this is one of the reasons I don't pay astromical prices for even very rare chips as some do. As I'm sure anyone who knows me is aware, I believe in personal freedom. If you're going to collect something expensive, you owe it to yourself to learn the hobby and what the variables are that determine price. Gathering and publication of information on remakes is great, and a proper role for a Club like ours. Attempting to control what members (and non-members) collect is out of place and will ultimately fail.
