Doug Smith: how about this one

There is some character in Georgia that has a machine (sort of like a dot matrix printer) in which he feeds a picture of an ivory chip. The machine then engraves an ivory blank.

This guy has 7 ebay names. If you check one of his ebay names, jb1967ss, you'll see that he has just complete several auctions of this crap. He now keeps the auctions private. He is also very careful in his discriptions. He calls them "examples".

The example I want to show is the scan below. The chip in the scan is a newly machine engraved chip. I assume the seller bought from the Georgian and sold to another character. The buyer has bought many fakes. He turns around and puts them back on ebay with complete lies in his description ("found in an estate sale" comes to mind).

The guy from Georgia has sold literally hundreds of fakes. Unfortunately nobody cares. One well respected voice on the BBs has defended this crap. He calls them "works of art". What an ass.
