Well, I didn't see Doug's article.....

But Doug did a great article in Chip Chat about Tony Cornero's involvement in several of the card rooms in Gardena during a period of time that I had lost track of him - the time from getting kicked out of Vegas (again) after the SS Rex Club (1945/46), and then going back to Los Angeles and opening (and almost immediately closing) the SS Lux off-shore gambling boat in 1946, and finally then resurfacing back in Vegas in the early 1950's trying to raise money to open the Starlight (later to open as the Stardust). He was active at the Horseshoe, Casino Club, and Fortune card clubs in Gardena, CA, during the late 40's and early 50's, until he ran all three into bankruptcy because his skim was to big to leave money to pay the bills. What a guy!!!
